Format conversion jobs

Zamzar takes a file in one format and returns it in another across documents, images, audio, and video. A Beam agent reads an incoming file, applies your conversion rule to pick the target format, and starts the job, then writes the finished file back to the destination you set. Standard, supported conversions run start to finish untouched. Files that fail to convert, come back corrupted, or use a format pairing your rule does not cover are held and routed to a person, since passing a broken output downstream tends to surface as a problem much later and much harder to trace.

Job status handling

Each conversion runs as a job that moves through queued, processing, and finished states. The agent reads the status of jobs it started, applies your timing rule, and updates the record or notifies the requester when a file is ready to collect. Jobs that finish cleanly are logged and the output filed. A job stuck far longer than usual, or one that errors out, is escalated to a person rather than retried endlessly, because a silent stall can leave someone waiting on a file that is never actually coming without anyone realizing it.

Batch file handling

Several files often need the same conversion in one pass. A Beam agent reads a batch from your source, applies the rule you approved to each file, and submits the conversions together, then collects the results and writes them back in order. Files that match the expected type sail through. Any file in the batch that is the wrong type, exceeds the size the account allows, or fails on its own is separated and flagged for a person, so one bad item never quietly holds up or corrupts the whole set of finished files.
