Automatic Mac activity tracking

Timing records app and document activity on a Mac and assigns it to tasks without a timer. A Beam agent reads the captured sessions, applies your rule to group them under the right project, and updates the timesheet on the person's behalf. It reminds a user when a block of time is left uncategorized. Activity that matches no project, or a session that spans work and personal apps, is set aside for a person to sort, so the recorded hours reflect real project work rather than idle time.

Session categorization

Timing labels each session by the app, file, or site in use. A Beam agent reads these labels, applies the mapping your team approved, and files each session under its project so the day's record is complete. It notifies a person about sessions the rule cannot place. Sessions with an ambiguous label, or ones that jump between several projects, are held for a human to categorize, so a client's billable time is not inflated by activity that belongs elsewhere and the totals stand up on review.

Project time totals

Timing adds categorized sessions into totals per project and client. A Beam agent tallies each period's hours, reads the sessions behind them, and updates the total that feeds reporting or an invoice. It alerts the owner when a project passes its estimate. Totals built on uncategorized time, or a project whose sessions look double-counted, are flagged for a person to confirm before the number is used, so planning and billing rest on hours a person has checked and signed off rather than on a raw export nobody reviewed.
