Label generation

Label generation turns a paid order into a printed shipping label inside Starshipit. When an order reaches the ready state, a Beam agent reads the address, weight, and contents, applies the approved rule for carrier and service, and produces the label and any customs paperwork. It writes the tracking number back to the order so later steps can use it. Where an address fails validation, a weight is missing, or the rule cannot pick a service the order qualifies for, the agent holds the label and routes the order to a person.

Tracking updates

Tracking updates read the carrier progress Starshipit collects for each shipment. A Beam agent pulls status changes on a schedule, applies the approved rule for what each stage means, and updates the order record and the buyer where the rule allows a notification. This keeps customers informed without manual checking. When a parcel stalls in transit, is marked lost, or reports a status the rule does not cover, the agent flags it and routes the shipment to the fulfilment team instead of sending an automated message.

Carrier selection

Carrier selection decides which shipping service an order should use. A Beam agent reads the destination, weight, and any service promise on the order, applies the approved rule that weighs cost and speed, and assigns the carrier and service Starshipit will book. It records the choice on the order so it is auditable. Where two services fit equally, a destination has no approved carrier, or a rate looks outside the expected range, the agent leaves the choice open and asks a person to select before the label is produced.
