Alert Triage

Splunk raises alerts when searches match a condition. A Beam agent picks up each new alert, reads the related events, and applies a customer-approved rule to judge severity and grouping. Alerts that match a known benign pattern are closed with a note. Real ones are grouped, enriched with context, and opened as a ticket for the on-call team. Alerts that do not fit any known rule, or that show signs of a novel pattern, are escalated straight to an engineer rather than auto-closed, so a genuine incident is never dismissed by a rule that has not seen it before.

Saved Search Reporting

Splunk saved searches return counts, trends, and tables on a schedule. The agent reads the results, applies an approved rule on thresholds, and updates the relevant dashboard or record. Figures within range are logged quietly. Breaches notify the owning team with the query and numbers attached. Results that look broken, such as a search returning zero from a source known to be active, are routed to an analyst instead of reported as real, so a silent data-collection failure is caught rather than passed on as a falsely reassuring all-clear reading.

Incident Enrichment

A raw alert rarely holds enough to act on. When an incident opens, a Beam agent runs approved follow-up searches in Splunk, reads the returned host, user, and event details, and writes them onto the ticket so responders start with context. Standard enrichment that matches the runbook is added automatically. Cases needing a query outside the approved set, or touching sensitive data, are handed to a human analyst before anything is pulled, keeping investigation fast on routine incidents while sensitive lookups stay under a person's control.
