Gallery publishing

SmugMug holds galleries of images that photographers share with clients and the public. When new photos land in a watched folder or upload queue, a Beam agent reads the file set and its metadata, applies your approved rule for which gallery, privacy level, and pricing apply, and publishes the images where the connector and account permissions allow. Clients are notified that an album is ready. If images arrive without required metadata, exceed size limits, or would post to a public gallery against your privacy rule, the agent holds them and asks a person to confirm first.

Photo metadata tagging

Each image in SmugMug carries metadata such as captions, keywords, and camera details. A Beam agent reads this data on new uploads and applies your tagging rule, adding keywords, assigning a shoot or client, and grouping images into the correct gallery. Consistent tags make later search reliable without anyone editing files by hand. When an image lacks the information the rule needs, or its keywords conflict with an existing set, the agent leaves the tag unset and notifies the library owner so a human can decide how it should be filed.

Client access control

SmugMug can restrict galleries to specific clients with passwords or private links. A Beam agent reads access requests and order records, and following your approved rule grants or updates viewing rights for the right client where account permissions allow. When a shoot is delivered, the agent shares the private link and notes it on the client record. Requests that name an unknown client, ask for access to a gallery outside the client's order, or touch a restricted collection are routed to a person rather than granted automatically by the agent.
