Password-based sign-in

This connector opens an SFTP session with a username and password kept in your credential store. A Beam agent uses them to sign in, reads only the folders your rule allows, and stays within the paths you approve. Every session is logged. When the login is refused, the password looks expired, or a path outside your list is requested, the agent halts and routes the case to an administrator, who checks the credentials or the permissions before any file moves, so an expired password shows up as a clear alert rather than a batch of quietly failed transfers.

Inbound file import

Partners often drop files into an SFTP folder for your systems to take in. The agent signs in on schedule, reads the directory, and applies your rule for which files belong to which process by name or timestamp. It imports the matching files, records each one, and notifies the owner. Files that look incomplete, duplicate an earlier drop, or carry a name your rule does not recognize stay untouched and go to a person, who confirms the file before the agent brings it into your workflow on a later run.

Folder housekeeping

SFTP folders fill up with files that have already been processed. A Beam agent reads the folder listing, applies your rule for what to archive or remove once a file is handled, and moves or deletes within the limits you set. It records every action it takes. Files whose status is unclear, ones newer than your retention window, or anything your rule does not clearly cover are left alone and flagged to a person, who decides whether to keep, move, or clear them so nothing needed is removed by mistake.
