sendSMS keeps the phone numbers and contact records that receive your text campaigns. A Beam agent picks up a new signup or an opt-in event, reads the contact, and applies the rule your team approved to add the number to the right campaign once consent is confirmed. The updated record writes back so the next send reaches valid, opted-in numbers. A number in the wrong format, one that never confirmed consent, or a contact already opted out is held and routed to a person, keeping your texting within the permissions on file.

Inbound reply handling

Contacts reply to sendSMS messages with questions, opt-outs, and keywords. An agent reads each inbound reply, applies your approved rule, and updates the contact by recording an opt-out, tagging an interest, or marking the conversation for follow-up. The change writes back so future sends respect the reply. Messages that carry a complaint, an unclear request, or wording the rule cannot confidently classify are passed to a person, so a real customer question never gets an automated response it should not, and opt-outs are always honored on time.

Delivery status readouts

sendSMS returns a delivery status for each message showing whether it reached the handset. A Beam agent reads these outcomes after a campaign, applies your rule for handling failures, and updates the contact or suppresses a number that repeatedly fails so you stop paying to text dead lines. Successful deliveries are recorded against the contact. A sudden spike in failures, a carrier error the rule does not cover, or a number failing for the first time is raised to a person before any suppression, so temporary issues never cost you good contacts.
