Return request intake

Retriever handles requests to send laptops and monitors back during offboarding, upgrades, and repairs. A Beam agent reads a new return request, checks the employee, device, and reason against your rule, and opens the return where the details are complete. It records the request and notifies whoever coordinates returns. Requests missing a device serial, tied to a departing executive, or involving unusual equipment are held for a person to review first. Standard, well-formed returns are opened on their own, so IT and people teams spend less time keying in each offboarding return by hand.

Shipping label generation

Retriever arranges the logistics of getting a device back from an employee. A Beam agent reads an approved return, applies your rule for carrier and destination, and requests a return label through the connector where the address and device check out. It attaches the label to the record and notifies the employee. Returns to unusual addresses, across borders, or for high-value equipment are routed to a person to confirm before a label is issued. Routine domestic returns are prepared on their own, so staff avoid arranging each shipment manually while exceptions still get a human look.

Asset record updates

Retriever keeps track of which devices have come back and in what condition. A Beam agent reads returned-device events, applies your rule for status and next steps, and updates the asset record to show it is back, in repair, or ready to reissue. It notes the condition reported and dates the change. Devices reported damaged, missing, or different from what was expected are set aside for a person to inspect and decide. Routine, matching returns update the register on their own, so the asset list stays accurate without someone reconciling every returned laptop by hand.
