Calculate Quaderno tax records and invoices, reading transaction data and writing compliant documents so approved rules apply the correct rate for each region.
Regional tax rate calculation
Quaderno determines the correct sales tax, VAT, or GST for a sale based on where the buyer and seller are located. A Beam agent reads the transaction and customer address, then applies the approved rule to attach the right rate and record it against the order. Calculated amounts are written to the invoice so filing stays accurate later. When an address is incomplete, a jurisdiction is unclear, or a rate looks unusual against recent orders, the agent holds the record and asks a finance reviewer to confirm before the document is ever issued to the buyer.
Invoice and receipt generation
Quaderno produces compliant invoices, credit notes, and receipts that match each region's requirements. A Beam agent reads completed transactions and applies the customer rule to create the matching document, fill in the tax fields, and store it against the account. Copies can go to the buyer where the connector and permissions allow it. Documents that involve refunds, mixed tax treatments, or a customer flagged for manual handling are routed to a person, so a reviewer approves the wording and figures before anything reaches the buyer or the permanent tax record.
Tax threshold monitoring
Quaderno tracks sales against registration thresholds in each country or state so sellers know when they must register. A Beam agent reads the running totals and applies the approved rule to notify the finance team as a region nears its limit. The alert and its supporting numbers are logged for the record. When a threshold is actually crossed, or a new region appears that the rule does not cover, the agent escalates to a human rather than assuming a registration step, since that decision carries legal weight and needs a person to act on it.
