Perplexity answers a natural-language question and returns citations for where the information came from. A Beam agent sends an approved query, reads the answer along with its sources, and writes the result into the record or field the rule specifies. The owner is notified when an answer is ready for a decision. Answers that carry weak or missing citations, contradict what your systems already hold, or address a question the agent phrased poorly are held for a person, who checks the sources before the finding is trusted or acted on.

Research and discovery lookups

Beyond a single answer, Perplexity helps explore a topic across many pages. A Beam agent uses this to research a task, reads what comes back, and summarizes it into your system under the rule your team set, attaching the sources it relied on. A person is notified when the summary is ready. Topics that return conflicting information, touch a sensitive area, or produce results the agent judges uncertain are passed to a person, who reviews the material before it informs any customer-facing work or downstream decision.

Citation-backed enrichment

Records often need a fact added, such as a company detail or a definition, backed by a source. A Beam agent takes a query built from an existing record, reads Perplexity's cited response, and writes the enriched value plus its source into the field your rule names. The record owner is notified that enrichment ran. Responses where the citation does not support the claim, where the value looks implausible, or where multiple sources disagree are set aside for a person, who confirms the fact before it is saved to the record.
