Barcode scan intake

Every barcode a worker scans in Orca Scan lands as a row in a shared sheet, tied to the fields your team defined. A Beam agent watches for new scan rows, reads the item code and location, and matches it against your master catalog using the rule you approved. When the code is known, the agent fills in the product name, category, and current owner so the record stays complete. Scans that hit no matching product, or duplicate an item flagged as unique, go to a person to confirm before the entry is trusted.

Stock count adjustments

Orca Scan holds a running quantity for each tracked item, and a Beam agent keeps that number honest as goods arrive and leave. On each inbound or outbound scan, the agent reads the current count, adds or subtracts the scanned amount per your stock rule, and writes the new figure back to the sheet. If a count would drop below the reorder point you set, it notifies the buyer. Any adjustment that would push stock negative, or that conflicts with a manual override, is paused and handed to a stock controller for a decision.

Field validation rules

Because Orca Scan sheets carry custom fields for things like batch, expiry, or asset owner, records only stay useful when those fields obey your format. A Beam agent checks each new or edited row against the validation rules you supplied, reading the entered values and correcting simple, unambiguous slips such as casing or unit labels. Rows that pass are marked ready; rows missing a required field are filled from a linked lookup where the data clearly exists. Entries with a genuinely ambiguous value, like a batch code no catalog recognizes, route to a data owner.
