Topic messages

ntfy pushes messages to named topics that any subscribed device receives. A Beam agent posts to the topic your team set up when an event your rule watches for happens, reading the source data first and filling the message with the relevant details. It notes which topic it posted to and why it fired. Events that do not clearly meet the rule, or that would notify a topic outside the agreed set, are held for a person to confirm before the agent posts anything to subscribers.

Priority levels

ntfy lets each message carry a priority so urgent alerts stand out on a device. A Beam agent reads the event behind a notification, applies your rule, and sets the priority your team agreed for that kind of alert before it posts. It records the level it used and the reason. When an event's severity is unclear, or setting a high priority would interrupt people outside the agreed hours, the agent leaves the level for a person to set and routes the case to them for a decision.

Tags and message formatting

ntfy supports tags and simple formatting that make a notification easier to read at a glance. A Beam agent reads the details of an event, applies your rule, and adds the agreed tags or emoji before it posts the message, for example marking a warning or grouping related alerts together. It notes the tags it applied to the alert. Messages whose meaning is unclear, or that would carry a label your team reserves for a person, are set aside for review before the agent posts them.
