Inspect ngrok tunnel, endpoint, and session records, automating operations work like closing stale connections and alerting owners on failed sessions.
Secure Tunnel Sessions
ngrok exposes local services through secure tunnels to public endpoints. A Beam agent watches active tunnel and session records, reads uptime and connection status, and applies your approved rule for what counts as a stale or failed session. When a tunnel drops or lingers past its window, the agent closes it or notifies the owning team and updates the session record. Sessions with unusual traffic patterns, or endpoints tied to production services, go to an engineer so a person decides before anything is torn down.
API Gateway Routing
ngrok can front APIs as a gateway, applying policy to inbound requests. A Beam agent reads the gateway's endpoint and traffic-policy records, checks them against the configuration your team approved, and updates or notifies when an endpoint's rules drift from that baseline. On a spike in blocked or rejected requests, the agent opens a note for the owning service and records the affected endpoint. Changes that would open a new public route, or loosen an authentication rule, are always handed to an engineer for approval rather than applied by the agent.
IoT Device Gateway
ngrok connects IoT devices through the same tunneling layer, giving each a reachable endpoint. A Beam agent watches device connection records, reads last-seen and status fields, and applies your rule for how long a device may stay offline before it matters. When a device goes quiet past that threshold, the agent tags the record and notifies the responsible team. Fleets of devices dropping together, or a device flapping on and off, point to a wider fault, so the agent routes those to an operator instead of clearing them one by one.
