A Beam agent reads incoming changes, such as a new email address or an event RSVP, and updates the matching profile under the rules your organizers set. It applies tags and notes only where permissions allow, keeping the record traceable. When two profiles look like the same person, or a change touches donor consent or suppression status, the agent stops and refers the case to an organizer. A person keeps that judgment while the agent supplies the conflicting details and its best guess.

Donation recording

NationBuilder holds gifts against supporter profiles, with amount, source, and campaign. When a donation posts, a Beam agent reads the entry, applies your acknowledgement rules, and updates the supporter's giving history or notifies the finance contact. Standard gifts within expected ranges record and acknowledge on their own. A refund, an unusually large amount, or a donation missing its campaign link goes to a staff member, who decides how to handle it. The agent keeps giving totals current so outreach and reporting draw from the same figures without manual re-entry after each contribution.

Event and RSVP handling

NationBuilder runs events with signup pages, capacity limits, and attendee lists. A Beam agent watches for new RSVPs, reads the event's remaining capacity, and confirms the signup or adds the person to a waitlist under your rules. It notifies attendees when their status changes and updates head counts as spots fill. A double booking, a capacity override request, or a signup flagged for review routes to an organizer, who keeps the final call. The agent keeps attendee lists accurate so volunteers and staff plan against real numbers before the day arrives.
