Channel notifications

Mattermost organizes team conversation into channels and threads on chat your team can self-host. The agent watches the systems you connect, applies your alerting rule, and posts notifications into the right channel when a tracked event happens, formatting the message and linking the source record. Expected, in-policy alerts post automatically. A message that would page a wide audience, carries sensitive detail, or reports an event outside the agreed rules is held and routed to an owner, who confirms the wording and recipients before it reaches the channel and the wider team.

Threaded question answering

Teams ask recurring questions inside Mattermost threads, from process steps to status checks. The agent reads a question, applies your rule, and replies in the thread with an approved answer or the current status drawn from a connected system, keeping the response where the discussion is. Common, well-covered questions are answered directly. A question that needs a decision, touches sensitive data, or has no approved answer is handed to the right person with the thread linked, so a human responds instead of the agent guessing at it.

User and channel administration

Mattermost administrators oversee users, teams, and channel membership. The agent reads joiner, mover, and leaver events from your source system, applies your access rule, and updates channel membership or user status so people sit in the channels their role allows. Standard, policy-matching changes are applied on their own. A request for a restricted channel, an admin-level change, or membership that conflicts with your access policy is held and routed to an administrator, who approves the change before anyone gains or loses access to the space in question.
