Approval Workflow Routing

Ironclad manages the sequence of people who need to sign off on a contract before it's finalized. A Beam agent reads a contract's current stage and the approved routing rule for its type and value, then moves it to the next approver and notifies them it's waiting. It updates the contract's status as each step clears. Contracts that stall past an agreed time limit, involve a clause outside standard terms, or fall above a value threshold your team has set are routed to legal or the relevant business owner instead of being advanced automatically.

Clause and Term Deviation Tracking

Ironclad tracks which clauses in a contract differ from the organization's standard playbook language. A Beam agent reads a contract's flagged deviations against the approved list of acceptable variations, clears the ones that match a pre-approved alternative, and updates the contract record noting what was accepted. It notifies legal when a deviation appears that isn't on the approved list. Deviations touching liability, indemnification, or terms your team has marked as always requiring review are left for a person to read and decide on, rather than cleared automatically.

Contract Renewal and Expiry Alerts

Ironclad stores key dates for each contract, including renewal windows and expiration deadlines. A Beam agent reads these dates on a schedule, applies your approved rule for how far in advance to act, such as notifying a contract owner sixty days before expiry, and updates the contract record to mark that the alert was sent. It can also draft a routine renewal notice where a template is approved. Contracts nearing expiry with a value above a set threshold, or with terms changing at renewal, are routed to the contract owner to negotiate rather than renewed automatically.
