Proxy and VPN Detection

IP2Location flags whether an incoming IP address belongs to a known proxy, VPN, or hosting provider network. When a new account, order, or login event triggers a lookup, a Beam agent reads the proxy flag and risk fields returned, then applies your approved fraud rule, for example blocking checkout from anonymized addresses on high value orders or allowing them on low value ones. It updates the order or account record with the result and notifies the fraud queue. Cases where the rule doesn't clearly resolve, such as a trusted repeat customer flagged as a proxy, are routed to a person to decide.

Country and City Resolution

IP2Location resolves an IP address down to country, region, and city, which many businesses use to route users to the right storefront, language, or tax rules. A Beam agent reads this location data at signup or checkout, applies it against your approved routing rule, and updates the customer or order record with the resolved region, applying the correct currency or content set automatically. Where the resolved location conflicts with a billing address, or falls in a country your team has flagged for manual handling, the agent leaves the record for a person to confirm before anything ships or renews.

ISP and Network Ownership Lookup

IP2Location returns the internet service provider and network owner behind an IP address, which helps distinguish a residential customer from a data center or corporate network. A Beam agent reads this field when a support ticket or order carries an unusual pattern, applies the approved rule for what counts as expected versus atypical network ownership for that customer type, and appends the result to the record with a note. It notifies the relevant queue when the network type doesn't match what's expected. Ownership results that are ambiguous or unlisted are passed to a person rather than acted on automatically.
