Automatic Submission Grading

Illumidesk can grade a student's submitted assignment against a rubric or an expected answer without an instructor opening each one individually. A submission coming in, or a deadline closing, is what starts a Beam agent's grading pass, reading back the score Illumidesk assigns and posting it to the class roster or gradebook the account uses. A submission Illumidesk can't score confidently, such as an unusual answer format or a flagged plagiarism match, gets set aside for the instructor to grade by hand instead of receiving an automatic score.

Student Engagement Tracking

Illumidesk records how students interact with course material, including things like time spent on a lesson or whether an activity was completed. A Beam agent reads this engagement data on a set schedule, such as weekly, applies the account's approved rule for what counts as falling behind, and updates a student's status or notifies the instructor about a particular case. Whether a struggling student needs a grade extension or personal outreach is left entirely to the instructor rather than decided by the agent.

Class Roster Updates

Illumidesk keeps a roster of who is enrolled in a course and their status, whether active, dropped, or completed. An enrollment change, say after an add or drop period closes, is what prompts a Beam agent to check this roster, reading the current list and updating the account's own student records to match by adding or removing people as needed. A mismatch, like a student who appears enrolled in one system but not the other, is flagged for the instructor or registrar to sort out rather than resolved by the agent guessing which record is right.
