ID Document Verification

IdentityCheck examines a submitted document, such as a passport or driver's license, and checks whether it looks genuine and matches what a person entered at signup. A Beam agent reads the pass, fail, or unclear result once the identity step is reached, applies the account's approved rule for what a pass means, and updates the applicant's record with the outcome before letting the signup continue. Anything unclear, or any document IdentityCheck can't read properly, goes to a human reviewer instead of an automatic approval or rejection.

Live Selfie Match

Where a signup flow collects a live selfie alongside the ID document, IdentityCheck compares the two and returns a score for whether the same person appears in both. Right after both pieces come in, a Beam agent requests this comparison, reads the score, and applies the account's approved threshold to either continue the signup or hold it, updating the applicant's record either way. Scores sitting near the threshold rather than clearly passing or failing are sent to a human reviewer to make the final call instead of the agent deciding alone.

Verification History Record

IdentityCheck keeps a record of each verification attempt tied to an account, including the outcome and roughly when it happened, which matters for the compliance side of onboarding. A support request or audit question about whether someone was ever verified is what prompts a Beam agent to read this history, and it can reopen a verification step or update an account's status if the record shows one is missing or expired. An incomplete history, or an outcome that looks inconsistent with the account's current status, gets flagged for a compliance reviewer to check by hand.
