Product Price and Stock Updates

Merchant Center holds the product listings a business shows across Google Shopping and other surfaces, including price, availability, and stock level. A Beam agent reads a change in the source product catalog, such as a price drop or an item going out of stock, and updates the matching field in Merchant Center so the listing reflects the current catalog. It only updates a listing it can match to the catalog by product ID with certainty. New products without a clear catalog match, or price changes above a threshold a team has set, are set aside for a person to check before the listing updates.

Listing Rejection Follow-up

Google checks every submitted listing and can reject one for issues such as a missing return policy detail or an image that does not meet its requirements. A Beam agent reads the rejection reason Merchant Center returns for a listing, checks it against a list of fixes a team has already approved, such as adding a missing shipping detail, and reapplies that fix to the listing before resubmitting it. It only resubmits listings where the fix is a known, approved one. Rejections for a reason without an approved fix, such as a policy violation, are sent to a person to read and resolve directly.

Product Feed Data Completeness

Merchant Center listings need certain fields filled in, such as a GTIN, brand, or category, before Google accepts them. A Beam agent reads a product feed before it submits to Merchant Center, checks each item against the fields Google requires for that product category, and fills in a missing field only when the source catalog already contains the value under a different name, such as copying brand from a product's manufacturer field. It never invents a missing value. Items with no equivalent value anywhere in the catalog are left out of the submission and reported to a person to complete.
