Spreadsheet Backed App Records

AppSheet builds an app directly on top of a customer's existing spreadsheet or database, so every record a user submits through the app lands back in that source data. A Beam agent reads new and changed records against the rule a customer has approved, for example an inventory count falling below a reorder point. It updates a linked record elsewhere, such as a purchase order sheet, and notifies the responsible team. Records with values outside the expected range, or changes made outside the normal app workflow, get routed to a team member to check before anything downstream updates.

Workflow Rule Triggers

A customer can set up rules inside AppSheet that fire when a record changes, such as a status field moving from pending to approved. A Beam agent reads those rule triggered events and carries out the approved next step, for example notifying a manager or updating a related record in another system. It logs the action taken so the trail stays visible to the team. Triggers firing on unexpected data, or rules that conflict with each other on the same record, get routed to the app owner to resolve.

Mobile Data Capture Checks

Field or shop floor users fill in AppSheet forms from a phone, often including photos or location data attached to a record. A Beam agent reads a submitted entry and checks it against the approved rule for that app, for example confirming a required photo is attached before a task counts as complete. It updates the task status and notifies the submitter's manager once cleared. Entries missing a required attachment, or submitted with a location far from the expected site, get routed to a manager to confirm.
