Drata organizes compliance controls, such as access permissions or backup checks, alongside the evidence needed to show each one is met. A Beam agent reads evidence from a connected system, for example a cloud provider confirming backups completed, and applies the account's approved rule to attach that evidence to the matching Drata control. This removes someone manually uploading evidence for every control period across each audit cycle. Evidence that doesn't clearly match a control, or looks incomplete, is routed to a person to confirm before it's attached.

Control Status Updates

Each compliance control in Drata carries a status, such as met, at risk, or needing attention, based on the evidence attached to it. A Beam agent reads new evidence as it arrives from a connected system and applies the account's approved rule to update the matching control's status in Drata. This keeps control status current without someone checking every control by hand between audits. Evidence that contradicts an existing status, or a control with no clear match, is routed to a person before any status changes.

Audit Prep Notifications

As an audit date in Drata approaches, controls without current evidence need attention before the audit window opens. A Beam agent reads which controls are missing evidence and notifies the account's compliance owner according to the approved rule, so gaps get addressed ahead of time rather than during the audit itself. This covers the routine work of checking control status across an account instead of waiting for the auditor. Controls with disputed ownership, or gaps outside the approved notification rule, are routed to a person to resolve directly.
