Time Budget Alerts

DeskTime records how long each employee spends on projects and applications throughout the day. A Beam agent reads those recorded hours against the project budget the customer has set in advance and checks the running total at whatever interval the account allows, such as daily or weekly. Where a project stays inside budget, the agent simply updates a summary for the manager. Where recorded hours pass the threshold, it notifies the project owner with the specific project and employee involved so a decision on scope or staffing can be made. The agent does not reassign work or change anyone's hours.

Low Activity Notices

DeskTime's automatic recording marks periods of low or no computer activity during working hours. A Beam agent reads these idle periods against the tolerance a manager has approved, such as a set number of minutes before a gap counts as notable. Small gaps get noted in a summary without any action. Gaps beyond the approved tolerance, especially repeated ones for the same employee, get flagged to a manager with the date and length of the idle time, letting a person decide whether it needs a conversation. The agent never marks an employee absent or adjusts a timesheet on its own.

App and URL Usage Notes

DeskTime categorizes the applications and websites employees use during working hours as productive, unproductive, or neutral, based on rules the account sets. A Beam agent reads this categorized usage and applies the customer's approved threshold for what counts as a notable pattern, such as extended time in an unproductive category. Where usage stays inside expectations, the agent updates a routine summary. Where a pattern crosses the threshold, it flags the specific application or site to a manager rather than silently escalating. The agent does not change how DeskTime categorizes a site or application; that stays a setting only a person controls.
