Deftship pulls live rates from multiple carriers for a single shipment so the cheapest or fastest option is visible before a label gets bought. A Beam agent reads a new order that needs shipping, applies the account's rule for which carrier to prefer, for example the lowest rate under a weight limit or a preferred carrier for international orders, and books the matching label. Orders with unusual dimensions, restricted contents, or a destination the rule doesn't have a clear carrier for are left for a person to book manually. This keeps routine orders shipping at a sensible rate without someone checking each one by hand.

Shipping Label Generation

Once a carrier and service level are picked, Deftship can produce the shipping label and packing slip for an order. A Beam agent reads the order details, confirms they match what the account's rule expects, such as a valid address and a weight within range, and has the label produced along with an update to the order's shipping status. Address errors the carrier flags, weights that look off compared to the order, or a service level no longer offered, are routed to a person before a label gets bought on bad information. This keeps a mistaken label from going out and being paid for.

Delivery Status Updates

Deftship keeps a status history for each label bought through it, from picked up to delivered. A Beam agent reads status updates as they come in, applies the account's rule for what a customer or team should be told at each stage, and updates the order record or notifies the customer when a shipment moves. Shipments marked as an exception by the carrier, such as a delay, damage claim or return to sender, are routed to a person instead of a routine status message. This keeps customers informed on the normal path while unusual delivery problems still get a person's attention.
