Location-Based Crime Risk Scoring

CrimeoMeter returns a crime risk figure for a given address or area based on reported incidents nearby over a recent period. A Beam agent triggers when a new application or property record needs a risk check, reads the score CrimeoMeter returns, and applies the customer's approved threshold to mark the record as standard or elevated risk before moving it forward. Scores that sit close to the threshold, or an address CrimeoMeter can't confidently place, are not marked automatically, they are sent to a person to decide instead.

Real-Time Crime Data Refresh

Because CrimeoMeter's data updates as new incidents are reported, a risk figure attached to a property or policy can go stale over time if nobody checks it again on a regular basis. A Beam agent checks watched addresses against CrimeoMeter on the customer's approved schedule, and updates the stored risk value on file when it changes meaningfully from the last check. Where a score moves by more than the approved variance, the agent does not silently update the record, it notifies a person before the change is applied to anything downstream.

Underwriting and Application Checks

Insurers and lenders often need a quick crime context check as part of reviewing a new application before it moves further along in the process. A Beam agent reads the address on a new application, applies the customer's approved rule for combining it with other risk factors already on file, and updates the application record with the outcome of that check for the underwriter. Applications that fall outside the approved rule, or where CrimeoMeter and other data disagree, are held and routed to a person to make the final call.
