Look up caller identity by phone number

CallerAPI returns identity information tied to a phone number, such as a name or the business associated with it, where available. A Beam agent looks up an inbound or outbound number when a call comes in or a new number is added to a system, and attaches the returned identity data to the relevant record. It logs the lookup and the result for reference. When a lookup returns no match or conflicting names for the same number, the agent leaves the record as is and flags it for someone to verify manually rather than guessing at an identity.

Flag spam and fraud risk on numbers

Alongside identity, CallerAPI can return a risk indicator for numbers associated with spam or fraud reports. A Beam agent checks this indicator when a new or unfamiliar number appears, applying the threshold the team has approved, such as tagging numbers above a certain risk level. It updates the call or contact record with the flag and the reason. When a number sits near the threshold or the risk signal is inconsistent with other information on file, the agent does not act on its own and routes the number to a person for a final call.

Enrich contact records with caller data

Many support and sales systems hold a phone number with little else attached to it. A Beam agent reads new or incomplete contact records, queries CallerAPI for the identity data tied to that number, and fills in the gaps, such as a name or business association, in the source system. It keeps a log of which fields it updated and from which lookup. When the returned data conflicts with what is already on file, the agent leaves the existing record untouched and flags the discrepancy for a person to reconcile.
