BusinessLogic

Run BusinessLogic spreadsheet calculations and workbook data, automating operations work like processing Excel-based calculations, feeding data into spreadsheet models, and returning results to other systems.

Run Excel calculations as a service

BusinessLogic takes an existing Excel workbook, with its formulas and logic intact, and runs it as a callable calculation step rather than requiring someone to open the file manually. A Beam agent sends input data to the workbook when a trigger fires, such as a new quote request or a scheduled pricing update, and reads back the calculated result once the workbook processes it. It applies the agreed rule to what happens next, such as updating a quote record with the output. Inputs that fall outside the range the workbook was built to handle are routed to a person instead of forced through.

Data feed into spreadsheet models

Many businesses keep pricing, forecasting, or eligibility logic in a spreadsheet model that other systems need to feed into. A Beam agent reads updated data from a source system, such as new rates or volumes, and writes it into the workbook fields the customer has mapped, then reads the recalculated output. Where the workbook is set up to expect a specific data shape and the incoming data does not match, the agent does not force the values in. It flags the mismatch to a person so the model input stays reliable.

Returning workbook output to other systems

Once a BusinessLogic workbook finishes a calculation, the result usually needs to reach another system, a quoting tool, a CRM record, or a report. A Beam agent reads the output cells the customer has designated as the result, and writes them into the destination system, matching against an existing record where an identifier is available rather than creating duplicates. Results that look inconsistent with the input, such as a calculation returning a blank or an out of range figure, are held back and routed to a person to check the workbook before the figure is used elsewhere.
